The Scuola Superiore per Mediatori Linguistici (School for Interpreters and Translators) of Ancona is an advanced institute at university level aimed at providing in-depth study about the means and the contents related to interpreting and translation for those interested in such professions.

The recent University reform provides the unique professional figure of "The Mediatore Linguistico" including both the translator and the interpreter.

The new Mediatore (Linguistic Operator) supported by good linguistic grounding, specific cultural background in the economic, legal and social field, is the professional suitable for working in all the services for information and for interlinguistic communication.

The new Mediatore (Linguistic Operator), that is the interpreter-translator, is the professional required both by factories and by Institutions, able to face the globalisation of markets.

Thanks to the Decree of the Italian Ministry of Education promulgated on 19/05/89 and the successive Decree of 14/10/2003, the School is acknowledged as an Advanced Institute at university level and is qualified to issue "A two language Degree".

The University Course lasts three years , according to the EEC directive 89/48, 12/12/1988, concerning the free movement within the European Union.
